Sorry for the long hiatus.Finally,it's time to post up this blog!

It was the most adventurous and exciting trip that I had ever been so far.From Surabaya, the second largest city in Indonesia to Mount Bromo and Mount Ijen.Simply beautiful and awesome trip. Most importantly I've a bunch of coolest, sporting and awesome travelling partners to go with, Sophia,A-Teh,Poh Ling and Teguh.

The journey commenced at sunset by driving from Surabaya airport to Mount Bromo hoping to see sunrise the next morning. It took roughly 5 hours to reach a small village near Mount Bromo.We spend a night in that village in an utterly basic and cheap hostel.The weather was pretty cold at night. We were urged to use freezing cold water to shower that night. Thought that was quite an experience and fun.

We departed from hostel at 3am the next morning by a cool-looking and sturdy black jeep driven by a good looking and photogenic(according to my travelling partners :P) Indonesian travel guide. It took about an hour to reach the view point to watch sunrise and Mount Bromo. It was extremely cold at view point. The sunrise was astonishing as well as Mount Bromo. After sunrise, we went to climb Mount Bromo. The trip by jeep to Mount Bromo was horrendous and thrilling. The road was scarily bumpy and rocky. It was about an hour journey to the base of Mount Bromo. Before climbing Mount Bromo, we visited "The Whispering Savannah". Took many shots from there with the vast and beautiful green sceneries. The climb to Mount Bromo was easy. Each of us rode a pony up to mid of Mount Bromo and climbed 250 staircase to the peak of Mount Bromo to spectaculate the crater.The amazing God's creation.

Day 3- It was an extraordinary day. The journey to Mount Ijen was an excruciating ride.It took us 4 hours to reach the base of the mountain. The road was again extremely rocky, winding and narrowed. Plenty of potholes on the road.We had to cease in the middle of the journey to push our car which wheels stucked in the pothole. Praise the Lord that we managed to reach the base of mount Ijen safe and sound. We hiked up to the peak of Mount Ijen to see the crater.Unfortunately, we didn't get to see the crater,the blue lake and yellow sulphur for mining operation as the weather was too misty and wet.However,we managed to watch a few strong and hardworking sulphur collectors hand carried sulphur down the mountain. We left Mount Ijen quite late in the evening.Visited coffee plantation as well. When almost nightfall, everyone was antsy and hoping to reach destination ASAP as the road was completely dark. The road trip was really a nightmare and dangerous. Thank God that we reached Bondowoso town safely that night.

Day 4- we drove all the way back to Surabaya and catch the next day's flight back to KL. On our way back to Surabaya,we got the chance to try the finest mango in town as well as the bad and tasteless durian :(

I love this trip. Let's do this again,guys!

I always remind myself that it is a blessing from God when you can travel around the world to see things, experience new cultures,try different types of food and meeting new friends. I am also blessed to have a good buddy,Joyce to travel around with me all these while. I thank God for all the blessings He has given to me.

After Sibu, we flew off to Singapore also known as Lion City. We stayed one night in a backpacker called Inn Crowd at Bugis area. It was a pretty cosy place to stay. We bunked at Lilis's place for the rest of the nights. Thanks to Lilis for the awesome accomodation.

Visited few places in Singapore and tried the local foods at few of the bustling hawker centre.The Orchard Road,Bugis Junction, Chinatown, Sentosa Island and the newly opened Universal Studios.Snapped many photos in Universal Studios.We visited Mount Pleasant Animal Hospital as well, spent a day to see the practice.I was appalled to see the huge and well established practice, immersed with busyness atmosphere in the whole practice. Lastly, I am glad to meet up with Eric,Olivia and Kimberly during this trip.

No place like home.Went back to Sibu with Joyce last month. That was her first trip to Sarawak- Land of hornbill. We had various types of Sarawakian and foochow food. Fried fern is her favourite dish. We drove to Kanowit as well just for a half day trip. Had some delicious foochow noodles and visited my relatives.

Climbing up Mount Batur and surfing were the highlights for the whole trip in Bali.We decided to climb Mount Batur when we arrived Kintamani. It was not in our plan.We were so in love with the amazing view of Kintamani and Mount Batur. Despite my painful and swollen right knee, I couldn't resist to climb that mountain. We got up at 3 o'clock in the morning and start to climb the volcano at 4 o'clock.Reached the peak after 2 hours of climb. The climb to the mountain was pretty easy. However, to climb down from the mountain was a suffering process.Painful yet satisfying.Anyway I made it!!

Bali is world renown place for surfing.Audrey(my best buddy) gave me the courage to learn surfing and told me to go to the same surfing school that she went before. Unfortunately, I went to the wrong surfing school. I've to confess that I forgot the name of the school.We went to another school called Big Kahuna-Hawaian Style Surf School. It said "guarantee can stand" for first 2 hours lesson. hehehe... I stood up maybe 2 to 3 times on the surf board, failed to stand most of the time. hehehe...glad that I made it also.

I love Ozeki Japanese cuisine!!!I brought Joyce there when she was here in KL 3 weeks ago. She treated me a nice dinner. I love "Unagi"so much till I didnt realise that we ordered almost every dishes with "Unagi". From appetizer till main course except the dessert. hehehe....I like the appetizer the most-mango salad with Unagi.

Beside the delicious food, I like the ambience of the restaurant too.Perfect! Highly recommended place to go for Japanese cuisine. Anyone?

The Blessed 30th Birthday

What's this man?! hehehe....

I had an unforgettable and memorable 30th birthday.I was so blessed to have so many friends remembering my birthday and of course my family members also. Joyce came over again for holiday and also celebrated my birthday(thank you!).Heok Yit called me all the way from Brisbane. Wei Sam(Betty) and Leon woke me up early in the morning, sang a lovely birthday song to me.My elder brother's kids called me one day before my birthday and said " FAT GU GU, HAPPY BIRTHDAY!" LOL, I will try to lose weight from now onwards. My sister in law asked me to quickily find a boyfriend and get married. That's a bit tough :). My sister "Jinnie" called all the way from States also-thank you Ani. Not forgetting my cousin,Lynn and my dearest roomate,Sophia celebrated my birthday too.And also all the texts and messages.It was a really nice birthday! Thanks to everyone.Will never ever forget...yeah, I know that I am getting into 30's.

It was a bonus that I was off on my birthday. Went karaoke with Joyce in the afternoon and had dinner at Passage Thru India.

Ilha Formosa means Beautiful Island. That's what a group of Portugese sailors uttered when they saw Taiwan for the first time. People are awesome, famous to be one of the warmest people in the world.

From Malaysia, we flew to Taiwan on 23 April 2009.We landed in Taipei from HK(transit), then took a high speed rail to Chia Yi as we wanted to catch the early old train to Alishan the next day. Spend one night in Chia Yi and went to the night market. I was amazed by the night market. The whole place was immersed with variety of food and clothes!!Mainly seafood though. The seafoods were just too enticing.Don't even dare to touch it after the anaphylactic shock incident in Bangkok. We managed to catch the early old train to Alishan the next morning. It was about 4 hours scenic ride. Spend one night in Alishan. Woke up 4am the next day,felt so fortunate that we would be able to see sunrise at the summit of Yu-Shan.

From Alishan we took a bus to ChiaYi town and caught a train to KaohShiung. KaohShiung is the second largest city in Taiwan. Spend one night in that city.Went to the Love River and night market.

After KaohShiung, we spend the last 3 nights in Taipei. First of all I've to say that the accomodation in Taiwan is awesome, so cozy and comfortable. I guess this was the best accomodation that I've ever stay especially the one in Taipei. We stayed near Shilin night market which is known as the king of Taipei's night markets.Spend our first night in Taipei at Shilin night market hunting for food :). The next day, we took a bus to YangMing Shan National Park. We were so eager to see the flowers in YangMing Shan.The funniest part was we didnt actually spend our time in the national park. It happened that the information centre was closed on that day. We were kinda lost and dont know where to start from. Fortunately we met a few of taiwanese ladies and suggested us to follow them to see Alocasia(calla Lily) in ZhuZiHu. It was a long journey to see Alocasia.hehe....10 mins of bus drive and about 1 hour of walk.It was a nice trip though. However, we managed to drop by at the famous flower clock of YangMing Shan before we left. Next was Taipei 101, officially known as world's tallest building and has the fastest elevator in the world. We went to XiMenDing the next day, a place where youngsters hang around here and also with full of trendy shops, restaurants,sneakers and etc.The last day morning before we left Taipei, we managed to visit Sun Yat-Sen memorial hall and watched the changing of guards with extremely precise march and intricate spinning of rifles.

Joyce came to Malaysia again in April. This time I brought her to Melaka, Ipoh and Penang. Drove to Melaka with her, my sister, Wan Lin and Sophia. Again went to the red house and Jonker's street. We drove to Ipoh and Penang the next day. I felt proud about it as it was my first time driving in long distance. Dropped by at Ipoh for 2 hours. Met up with Jean(glad to meet her up again) and had the nicest Ipoh Hor Fung and Chicken rice. Beside the awesome food in Penanag,driving in Penang need lotsa patience as most of the roads are one way street."Jalan Sehala" signs are all over in the town. You won't miss them man! Once you got the wrong way, you need to make a big turning before you can reach your destination. But it was all fun afterall and also most importantly I've someone who was good in reading map:) navigated me on the roads. We had Penang Char Koay Teow, Pasembur, curry mee, asam laksa and Penang Bak Kut Teh.

Lassie, one of my best companion in my life passed away 2 weeks ago.She was a young,lovely, fabulous, energetic,loyal and beautiful German Shepherd.

She never fail to greet me every single day.Waited for me every morning to open the door for her to come into the house and kept me company when I am having breakfast. She loves to go out for walks as well as bathing. She would go crazy when she saw harness or leash and also WATER!!

I didnt expect 23rd April,2009 was the last time I patted her and told her " Be good, gal! I will be back soon." She's gone now. Her usual sleeping spots are vacant. No more yelling of her name to ask her to behave. House is so quiet without her.Gonna miss her.

I was in Bangkok from 18 Dec till 23 Dec for cardiology seminar with Joyce (my buddy from Hong Kong), Foong Yan and my boss. It was 3 days event. Spend 2 days shopping with Joyce :)

I am crazy about Abba songs recently after watching Mama Mia.I watched the movie twice. Digged out the Mama Mia musical play CD that I bought in Melbourne 3 years ago.Had the opportunity to watch the play in Melbourne.AWESOME!! However, I like the movie more than the play. The actors and actresses in the movie sing better than in the play.My favourite part of the movie is "Dancing Queen" when Donna managed to make the whole village sing and dance with her.It was so cool!! I almost stood up and dance also in the cinema..hehehe...
Highly recommended movie to watch if you like Abba songs or if you're a music lover.

Last week was a total fun, meaningful and enjoyable week. A good friend of mine came from Hong Kong and visited me. We have not seen each other for the past 3 years. Her visit to Malaysia was a surprise to me. Got to know her when I did my veterinary practical in New Zealand 4 years ago in Massey University.(fyi,she's a vet too, the competence one :) currently practicing in HK ) Anyway, good to see her again and enjoy her company very much.

Initial 3 days, brought her to my practices. The main branch and the other branch in Hartamas. She assisted me well whenever I have consultations and surgery. Brainstorming me all the times. hehe...exchanging ideas and opinions, learn heaps from her.

She loves Malaysian food and shopping. I took 2 days leaves to bring her around KL for food and shopping. Tried all sorts of Malaysian food and shopped till drop. Definitely tried nasi lemak and D24.

This is my recent new toy - GUITAR. Finally I decided to buy a guitar and learn it after longing for so long. I got to learn a little about guitar when I was with my church friends during university time. Due to financial constraints and time limitation I didnt get to learn it well at that time. Now, I cant believe that I have my own guitar and I am going to learn it well this time.

I spend my childhood with a bunch of Iban natives. I communicate with them in Iban dialects, played with them by the river side, muddy field, climbed trees to pluck fruits and a lot more. Some of them said I am just like one of them so called "Orang Iban".The thing that I like the most is to celebrate Harvest Festival (Hari Gawai)with them. It's just like celebrating Chinese New Year and Hari Raya. During Hari Gawai, I spend the whole festival with my Iban's friends in long house and got to eat lots and lots of food!
One of my assistant vet is an Iban. He brought some food for us when he got back from Sarawak after Hari Gawai 2 weeks ago. I cant help myself to take photos of the traditional biscuits(Penganan Semut and Penganan Cuan) that he brought for us. It reminds me on my childhood days. I missed those days. I would like to go back there again when I got the chance.

I watched a Japanese movie called "Hachiko" last week. Hachiko was an Akita born in the city of Odate, Japan in November 1923. He was adopted by a professor, named Ueno from Shibuya, Tokyo. Hachiko and his owner cannot be separated from the start. He would accompany Professor Ueno to Shibuya Train Station everyday when he left for work and returned from work routinely. Unfortunately in 1925, Professor Ueno passed away. However, Hachiko still returned to the train station everyday to wait for him. He routinely waited for his late owner without fail for 10 years till he died on the same waiting spot in 1935. Hachiko's faithfulness and loyalty moved the people around him.He was known as Japan's most faithful dog. A statue of Hachiko was erected in remembrance of him.

Yet, they brought their pets to see vet and expect the vet knows every single thing about their pets without asking them the pet's medical history and etc. They think we are God and not suppose to ask so many questions. Below is one of the conversation that I have with a pet owner.

(V=vet, O=pet owner)
V: "Hi Sir, what's wrong with your dog?"
O: "YOU CHECK LA!!YOU ARE VET MAH!! I also dont know what's wrong. I think it's skin problem."
V:"When did you notice the skin condition? Is it itchy?"
O: "Errmm...I think these 2 days. Itchy ah...err..I am not sure."
V: "Who is the one taking care of your dog?"
O: "My maid"
V: "Can you call your maid and ask her?"
O: "Oh, actually I take care of my dog also, but I dont see him scratching."

I stopped asking him anymore question as I know that he doesnt know anything about his pet.
After did some skin check, I found out that the dog has got mange(skin parasite infestation). Mange can cause severe itchiness of the skin. The bad skin condition doesn't appear in 2 days.
For godsake, you tell me that your dog is not itchy!!! This pet owner is what we called irresponsible pet owner. Come on, please dont keep a pet just because you think the pet looks cute and adorable. Keeping a pet is about commitment and responsibility. Think twice before you want to keep a pet.

I personally found this article very interesting and informative. Do you know how to brush your pet's teeth?
Here are some of the guidelines.

Daily tooth brushing is an essential part of your pet’s health.

As with any new learned behavior, it is important to start slowly, with patience and positive reinforcement, to condition your pet to allow the toothbrushing process.
To start, place a small amount of veterinary toothpaste on your
finger and let your pet sniff and lick it.

If your pet shows interest in the flavor of the toothpaste, use it.

If your pet is not interested in the toothpaste, brush the teeth without it.

Do not use human toothpaste because it contains fluoride, which should not be swallowed.
Concentrate on the outer surfaces of the teeth.

Hold the toothbrush at a 45-degree angle to the tooth surface, with the bristles
pointing toward the gum line.

This allows the cleaning of the gum line while the teeth are being brushed.

Work the toothbrush in a circular motion.

Try for 15 seconds on each side of the mouth.

Go slowly, and be patient.

If things aren’t going well, wait a few hours before trying again.

He was born prematurely on the 27th April,1982. He was placed in an incubator for intensive care. The doctor said he might not be able to make it but he survived. When he was 3 years old, he was hospitalised for 10days because of high fever. The doctor again said he might not be able to make it but he survived. He fell down from first floor when he was 5 years old and had head injury.Few stitches were placed on his right side of his forehead. The scar was visible and remained on his right forehead.

He lost his mom when he was 16 years old. He was devastated and had tough life after that. He then became very independent and a strong sense of survival. He finished his diploma in hotel management and catering at the age of 22.He loves to cook and he's a good bar tender. He mixed cocktails and made his own cocktails receipes. He cooked for my elder brother's wedding and any festivals at home. He loves to eat and tried new food too. He was a good friend to all his friends. He said he wanted to get married in 2 years time and dreamt to open a lounge. His life has never been smooth sailing for the past 3 years and yet he gone through it.

He left us on 15 Nov 2007 due to road accident. We lost him and won't be able to see him anymore. He's now with mom.

I miss him badly.I can's stop thinking about him. My heart sores. Life is so unpredictable and vunerable. I keep asking myself why God chose him? Why this time?

You rest in peace. Take care of mom in heaven. Dont worry about us. We shall meet again in heaven.

I've been thinking of rendang and lemang for the past 1 week. Cant help myself to stop thinking of these 2 dishes. Those are one of my favourite food. This year I've got the chance to visit my collegue-Kak Rosnah for the open house :) The moment I entered the flat I was impressed of how she decorated her low cost flat.It was nice and cosy. All the food and cookies that served were prepared by Kak Rosnah. The rendang and lemang were so delicious. Mee hun soup is seriously delicious also. I would love to have another bowl of mee hun soup at that time, but I was too full. The cookies were nice too. I am still thinking of the mee hun soup now.

Sigh..again I met many difficult and weird pet's owners this week. Sometimes I just can't breath. Please give me a break and I need a long vacation!!

Complaints just keep on pouring in and which I don't think it's our vet's faults. Heard like " the vet killed my dog during the treatment." eerrr....that's not true! I found most of the irresponsible pet's owner bring their pet to see vet when their pet is extremely ill. We as a responsible vet will definitely do our best to save the sick animals.But often when their pet died, it's all vet's fault. However, some of the pet's owner will never appreciate you when you've saved their pets. Not even a word of "Thank you". I am really wondering what's in their mind. Just wanna share my frustration over what I had encounter for the past 1 week..Phew...

I had a funny emergency case last night around 1130pm. It's a 2 months old toy poodle presented to me with the complaint of acute onset of weakness. Below is the conversationg that I had with the owner.

Owner: I saw my dog lying in the cage when I came back home just now and no energy to eat when I offered food to him. Why ar doctor?
Me: Errr...Any vomiting and diarrhae?When did you last feed the dog and how many time do you feed your dog normally?
Owner:Oh, no vomiting and diarrhae. I fed my dog at 10am this morning. I feed twice a day only. Why ar doctor? My dog pengsan because of not eating is it?
Me: How much of dog biscuits you feed normally?
Owner: I usually give 16 pieces of dry biscuits only.
Me: HA?!!!!! 16 PIECES ONLY??!!!! WHO TOLD YOU SO????!!!
Owner: Ne...the petshop person asked me to give 16 pieces only...must control their intake so that my dog won't grow too big..
Me: You under feed your dog, he's now having low glucose in the blood(hypoglycaemia). So I've to check his glucose level and put him on drip now.

The toy poodle was getting up and eating after we put him on drip with glucose.

I didnt LOL in front of the owner but in my heart. On the other hand, I was a little bit upset not on the owner but the petshop people that giving out the wrong information and education to the pet's owners. There's no such thing as feeding your dog with 16 pieces of dry biscuits!!!?? Come on, please do some reading on basic information of how to take care of a pet. To all the pet's owner out there,please do seek for professional veterinary advice instead of listening to all these improper and fake information.

Rock Climbing

Finally, we make it to go to learn rock climbing at Summit yesterday. We've been talking about it since last year. hehe...

First timer of rock climbing is compulsory to attend Basic Rock Climbing Safety Instruction Course. It was about 2 hours course. Initially we learnt how to wear harness in proper way then learnt how to tie few safety knots eg figure of 8 and double figure of 8. Lastly, we were taught a few techniques to become a good belayer as belayer is very important in rock climbing. Coz he/she that save your life when one falls down while climbing. Totally fun and exciting. It's just RM14 per entry for unlimited climb.

Sorry for the long hiatus. I didnt really post up any blog for the past 2 months. Kinda slack lately. Clinic has been extremely busy for the past 2 weeks. I had quite a few of hospitalization cases as well. I have a weird and mysterious case that puzzled me until now though the patient has already been discharged. I got no idea what's happening with this dog. It's a case of a 2 year-old intact male rottwailer presented to me with the complaint of inappetance and unable to walk for 2 days. No history of trauma as such.Physical examination was done. The dog was bright and alert, temperature normal, on sternal recumbency, unable to bear weight on both frontlimbs, CP negative and knuckle for both front limbs, painful both shoulder joint, postive for superficial and deep pain and hyperesthesia along the thoracolumbar region as well as the muscle of both hind limbs.Blood profile showed BUN,CREA and PHOS(kidney parameters) were all elevated by 2 times. X-ray of pelvis and spine showed non significant findings.My differential for this case were poisoning, polymyositis and immunemediated disease.

The dog was immediately hospitalised and put on 0.9% NaCl for 6 days to flush off the toxin in the body. The kidney profiles reduced back to normal after 6 days of drips. But unfortunately he is still unable to walk. To rule out immunemediated disease and polymyositis I started off this dog with prednisolone(steroids).After 3 days of prednisolone the dog shows some improvement on the hindlimbs but still unable to bear weight on the frontlimbs. The dog was discharged today with 1 week of prednisolone. I am praying that the dog will get better and start to walk after 1 week. Still remain puzzle of what's actually wrong with this dog. This was the first time I spend my CNY in KL. It was sucks and boring. No firecrackers, no lion dance, roads were so much empty. Very pathetic isnt it? I wonder how KL people celebrating their CNY. I started working on the 3rd day of CNY.I enjoyed driving on highway during CNY. It was so much quicker to reach my working place compare to normal days. Great isnt it? I had reunion dinner with my brother's family. Food were good:)....Anyway, I didnt go anywhere on 1st and 2nd days of CNY. Stayed at home with Sally, Emma, Lassie, Junior and Fluffy, and had a good rest as well. Bought Sally and Emma each a new collars for CNY.

Well,finally I came back home today(9th day of CNY). I am going to spend Chap Goh Meh with my family which I have not been doing that for the past 6 1/2years. Sibu is still the same, small town famous with "Kampua mee" and "Kom Pia" . These are my favourite foods since young. I can't wait to eat the food man! Will post up some photos later. Went to my best friend's(Wei Sam) house for BBQ party on Chap Goh Meh's eve. It was definitely fun with firecrackers :)Here are some of the photos.

Sally went missing for the past 1 day. She didnt come back last night. We got extremely worried about her as she would always come back after roaming. I went around the neighbourhood few times to look for her last night as well as today. I just couldn't find her. I was praying so hard to God and asked Him to guide her back.

Coincidently, on our way to swimming pool just now ,we found her!! It's timing man! God works wonder. If we didnt go for swimming tonight, I am sure Sally still can't find her way back.
Sophia and I nearly changed our mind to go shopping just now. Thank God for His guidance.

Anyway, Sally is alright now. She was extremely hungry. I have never seen her so hungry before. Both of her front paws swell up, guess due to too much of walking. Poor gal! Glad that she's back now. A lesson for us to learn not to let loose dogs to roam freely :)

The dog that I mentioned in my previous entry was diagnosed with UROLITHIASIS (urinary stones in the bladder)last week!! The owner brought the dog back as the hematuria didn't resolve completely even with the antibiotic.He was shocked to see the stones in his dog's bladder on x-ray and ultrasound. I supposed he was speechlessat that point of time.

It was still vivid in my mind the day when the owner shouted at me and said that he wanted to sue me for causing his dog to have bloody urine after the spay. Anyway, the owner didn't apologise to me face to face. He asked my collegue to pass the apology message to me.

I learn something from this case."Do not simply accuse or blame anyone until you have proof or evident for doing so."

The hardest part being a small animal practitioner is THE CLIENT. I meet different kind of clients every single day. Some are nice, some are ok and some are really unreasonable as well as fussy. Something not very nice happened today. A client called me up and told me that his dog having hematuria(bloody urine) for 3 days post OHE(spayed).Happened I was the vet who had spayed his dog. I told him to bring the dog and urine sample for urinalysis. He brought the urine sample without bringing his dog. Thus, he was charged for the urinalysis.He immediately shouted at me and front office people. I knew it would happen.

"You were the one who spayed my dog and now causing my dog to have bloody urine,you want to charge me for the urinalysis??!!YOU WANT ME TO SUE YOU??!!!"
I was dumbfounded for a few sec.Then, told him that the bloody urine might not because of the spay. He screamed again "You're unreasonable, asking me to pay for the urinalysis? It's all your fault.who else can I blamed?" I was like err...hey excuse me,do you have proof to say that? I hate arguement. By stopping the arguement, I apologised to him and told him need not to pay anything. Urinalysis showed the dog is having cystitis.I informed the owner about it and his dog need to be on antibiotic for 2 weeks and of course its FOC. He didnt argue with me after I told him everything is FOC.

I had spayed so many dogs and I have never encounter this kind of problem before. Where is the source of infection?

I am just so stressed up.Sigh...Life is just so difficult!!Everything is about money. Money control our lives emotionally. This was not the worst senario actually, I had met some extremely hard clients. Vet is not God. He/She sometime will fail to treat sick animals. Sometime it's not vet's fault when the animals unable to pull through from a disease. I feel upset when some of the clients blame all the faults to vet when their pets died. It's just ridiculous I reckon when pet owner makes this kind of assumption.

Phuket

Just came back from Phuket 4 days ago. It was a fanstatic trip. The itinerary for the whole trip went smoothly. It is monsoon season now in Phuket. Weather was warm and bright in the day time. Fortunately it was wet only in the late evening. We were lucky as well to see how the Thai people celebrating 9 days of Vegetarian Festival in Phuket. It was kinda big celebration for them.Many vegetarian food stalls were set up along the Ranong Road in Phuket town(that's where we stayed).We had 2 days of vegetarian foods consecutively. That was a bit too stressful for me as you know I am not a vegetarian. I need to eat meat!:)However,we had really delicious thai food for the rest of 3 days.

Accomodation was awesome this time. We stayed in a backpacker located in the centre of Phuket town called Phuket Backpacker (www.phuketbackpacker.com). It is a dirt cheap,nice and extremely clean backpacker. This is the best backpacker I have ever stay. I would highly recommend for backpackers to stay there.

We spend the 1st night in the town. On the 2nd day(24th Oct,2006), we followed one day tour to Ko Phi Phi Island. Stunning and magnificent white sand beach and translucent water. Snorkelling was fun but the corals are seriously not nice compare with the corals in Perhentian Island.

On the 3rd day(25th Oct,2006), we again followed one day tour to James Bond Island which located in Phang-Nga(north of Phuket province).James Bond Island rock in The Man with the Golden Gun. On the way to James Bond Island we went to Elephant cave(we were not allowed to take photo in the cave).In the Elephant cave,we were toured by using canoe,bamboo raft as well as walking in the water.Various of imaginary and impressive architectures in the cave. Visiting to Monkey cave is one of the itinerary also. Tour to James Bond Island was the best among all. The scenery is breathtaking. On the way back from James Bond Island, we stopped by at a Muslim fishing village called Panyi Village which is located at the island itself. Met a Muslim Thai man who can speak fluent Malay.

We went to white water rafting on the 4th day(26th Oct,2006) which is located in Phang-Nga as well. It was a level 2 and 3 water rafting.The water was not so rapid. The friendly rafting instructors made our day fun and exciting. After the rafting, we spend time in a clear white waterfalls and did some stunt too by jumping down from about 7m height of rock into the water...hehehe.. Then went back to the camp for 10 minutes of herbal sauna.Headed back to Phuket town.

On the last day, we had our breakfast in a coffee shop near our backpacker. Coincidently we saw proccession along the Ranong road as well in conjunction with the Vegetarian Festival. After the heavy breakfast(fried rice pork ~wink), we went back to backpacker and took a cab to the Phuket International Airport.

Missed my pets at home. Rested at home for 3 days before I start work on Tuesday.Feel refreshing after the break. I started working today. On night duty(emergency oncall) this week.

It was a last minute decision to take leave on Merdeka Day(31st August) after I was told that I still have 2 more public holidays to take.Thinking to relax at home and do some shopping. Anyhow, I followed Sophia and her sisters headed up to Cameron Highlands for a day trip since I've not been outing for "so so long"(longing for long holiday really).This is my second trip to Cameron Highlands. The journey took up about 2 1/2 hours.We left home around 715 in the morning. The hills road was extremely long and winding. I had motion sickness but was okay after that. We passed by few small towns, Ringlet, Tanah Rata and Brinchang.Unfortunately the weather was bad on that day, raining on and off. The temperature was just nice..it's a comfort zone for me. However, we managed to go to strawberry farm, butterfly garden, Boh Tea Plantation, vegetables and fruits market as well as cactus valley. The vegetables are dirt cheap and fresh. I bought like 13 packs of different fruits and vegetables for only RM10 and some sweet potatoes too. Beside that I bought a huge and long white carrot for only RM2!!! Tried some passion fruits and strawberries that we plucked from the strawberry farm. Cameron apple tastes sucks though its really juicy. Boh Tea plantation is awesome. The tea trees are greenish and beautiful.In cactus valley, I saw various type of weird and funky cactus. Although the journey was a bit harsh on the hill road, I enjoyed the most out of it.

We went to Say Chin's wedding in Taiping yesterday(27th August,Sunday).The journey from KL to Taiping took us 3 hours. We attended the wedding ceremony in bridegroom's house. It was sweet and simple. I like that..hehehe...guess what, it was the first time I saw a roasted pig. Sua gu right?Too bad I didnt get to snap a photo of that pig coz it's not so nice to take in front of so many ppl.hehehe..if you get what I meant. It was great to see all my ex-coursemate that attended the wedding. I guess that's the only way to have reunion. So more wedding bells coming up??!!hehhehe..who's next??

Cha-am, Thailand

After a long pondering I decided to go for Continuing Education(CE) again in Thailand end of last month.This time the topic was pretty interesting. It was Veterinary Emergency Practice. I am really sucks in emergency practice though I've been doing emergency oncall all these while.Thus, decided to take this opportunity to brush up my emergency medicine.

The CE was held at Cha-am,south of Thailand. It took approximately 4 hours to reach Cha-am by bus from Bangkok. Cha-am is known as longest while sand beach in Thailand. We were placed in a nice and probably I guess 4 stars hotel(Novotel Tipviman Resort & Spa) in Cha-ma. I personally learnt quite a lot of things from the CE. Such as corticosteroids is not useful or doesnt help in shock therapy(something new to me), and knowlegde of using types of fluids in fluids therapy and a lot more that I've learnt. And again the schedule for the CE were really packed.The sad thing was that I didnt get the chance to walk along the beach shore!!! how can this happened to me??!!

Clinic has been kinda quiet lately. It could be probably due to World Cup Season. Everyone stays at home watching the football matches and forget about their pets :) . Not many hospitalization cases as such. A couples of parvovirus cases though. I still remember that last year around this time there were lots of parvovirus cases as well. It makes me think that does parvovirus comes with season? Anyway, please do bring your 2 months old puppy for vaccination if you have one. Parvovirus is deadly disease. Last Sunday again I saw an obese Pinscher walked into our clinic. This dog has been feeding with all kind of food that you can name it. All I can remember that one of the food is satay. LOL....

I was freaked out when I saw the photos in this website http://kjfauto.multiply.com/photos/photo/152/1. It was a terrifying road accidents that happened on the North South Highway(LDP highway) in KL last Sunday night. 4 people were killed and 4 injured in that road accidents. Illegal racing that cause death of these 4 people. Oh dear, I was really horrified.

Hasn't been blogging for couples of weeks and yet it's nearly end of May. There is no entry for May it seems. hehehe...

I just came back from the clinic attended 2 emergency cases. A 3 months old puppy came in with the complaint of vomiting. Owner has been feeding many types of food eg fruits, rice and soup, you name it man! The puppy is hospitalised and put under observation.

Guess what, I have never seen a real wild cat before and yet it was right in front of me just now on the examination table. Two good samaritans brought in a wild cat that knocked down by a vehicle. It's wild and ferocious creature. I supposed that wild cat is a fishing cat (Prionailurus viverrinus). It looks exactly like that after browsing throught the internet looking for the exotic cat that I've seen just now.When I saw the cat the first thing that came into my mind was " hah??!! what should I do to the cat?" I was nervous and scared actually as I really do not have any experience on wild animals especially the skill of handling and precautions to prevent being bitten by the animal. After consulting the two men about the cost and condition, they decided to send the cat to the Wild Life Center nearby. Pray that the cat still alive.

I just got back from Thailand 2 days ago.This was my second trip to Thailand. I attended an awesome continuing education(CE) given by a professor from Australia. The CE was all about cats.The topics were about optimal preventative health in cats, diseases of respiratory tract, skin, renal and diseases associated with cat fights as well as interesting topics about feline infectious peritonitis(FIP) and lymphoma mostly associated to feline immunodeficiency virus(FIV) and feline leukemia virus(FeLV). There are quite a few updates on feline medicine. Something really amazed and new to me is that we can actually introduce "natural food" to cat for example raw chicken wing or neck. We spend 2 nights in Ayuttaya then headed to Bangkok right after the CE. Oh yeah,just for your information that I didn't miss out the Thai massage as well as the Thai food(eg tom yum kung, green curry and som tam).The food was terrific. Bangkok is definitely a shopping paradise. This time I didn't go for sight seeing instead spending one day in Bangkok just to shop in a shopping mall called NBK then flew back to KL on that night itself(Monday night). Completely fun but tiring trip.

This post is dedicated to Brenda on her 26th birthday which was on 14th April(Good Friday).No doubt that she's the most caring and understanding housemate that I ever had. Words really can't describe her if you know what I meant. She's an awesome and mighty gal.She will be leaving us next month for her 3 months practical training. Sorry for the long hiatus. Last week was my turn to take over the night duty or emergency after hour.It was a long and tiring week.I had 7 emergency cases over the week on different night.

On the first night that was last Tuesday, a mixed pomeranian fall down from 2nd floor and has got a complete facture at the physeal of radius and ulna.Modified Robert Jones bandage was done on the affected limb. Then,the next day a Basset Hound was presented with the complaint of prolapse 3rd eyelid on the right eye.I supposed it was induced by trauma.Managed to reduce the prolapse by giving some oral steroids. On Friday, I had a case of 1 year old spitz suffered from hypocalcaemia(lack of calcium in the blood).She was hyperthermic(high fever)and in semiconscious condition. Cold bath and fast intravenous fluid were given to subside the high fever. This dog is on calcium tablets now.

There were 3 cases on Sunday. Open pyometra(uterus infection) in a rottwailer, evisceration in a cat and a puppy that accidentally ingested detergent.Surgery was done immediately on the cat to put back the eviscerated part into the abdomen. Guess what, part of the spleen, liver and mesentery were eviscerated out. The rottwailer was spayed to remove the infected uterus. The puppy was treated with charcoal. It was really hectic on Sunday. I started work at 9am and finished all the cases at about 11pm.

No doubt I've learnt a lot from the cases. It's all about thinking hard and making the right move for every decision that I've made.

Update on Junior

Just some update on our house's cat "Junior". He is basically a 1 year old semi-roamer cat and is about 6kg now. That is consider a big fat cat in Malaysia. He loves to sleep as he can sleep up to 12 hours a day. Almost everyday he wakes me up around 3am to let him out for his so called "early breakfast". hehehe...And wakes us up again around 7am everyday. Natural alarm clock huh? He is just so adorable.

Emma Got Injured

I had a nightmare 2 nights ago. Emma(my dog) accidentally escaped from the house at around 1130pm 2 nights ago and just went missing for about 7 hours. She usually will come back in 1/2 or 1 hour time. I started to get worry when my housemate told me that she had gone out for almost 2 hours and never appear in front of the house gate waiting for us to open the gate for her. So I brought Sally(another dog) together with me to find Emma around my housing area for almost 1 1/2 hour. It's kinda difficult to find her at night because she is black. I was tired after the hunting though Sally still want to continue and I decided to go to bed. Frankly speaking I had a sleepless night worrying that Emma might got caught by someone and etc.

Around 630am I got up and went out to check again. Once I reached the gate, I saw Emma standing beside the gate with her head looking down and right front limb lameness. I thank God that she came back. She got a deep cut wound and a few small cuts at the right front limb as well as the right hind limb. Not sure how she got them. All the wound were still fresh and clean. Brought Emma to Nat's place around 10am. Nat helped me to suture up all the wounds. Thanks Nat! Anyway, Emma is alright now.

Chinese New Year 2006

Just got back from Sibu 3 days ago. In just a wink, CNY is going to end soon.Now, Chap Goh Meh(aka Chinese Valentine's day) is just around the corner. Time flies huh? I suppose most of the west Malaysian and ppl in China celebrating this day by throwing mandarin oranges into the river to wish for a better romance life.

I took 10 days of CNY break. That was the longest holiday that I had ever get after working for 7 months or I would say after I graduated in April. It's glad to be at home, spending time with my family members, relatives and my close friends as well. Anyway, the gathering was awesome and I am still missing them now.

Something that was really amusing happened in the clinic last night. An extremely obese male dalmatian presented to us last night. I have never seen a dalmatian with that kind of body score. I was really dumbfounded and I couldnt stop myself from saying "Oh, my God". Funny thing was when one of the client saw the dog, she asked me "Is that a cow?"

The dalmatian is 50kg. His normal diet are chicken, pork and rice. He is basically confined and apparently no exercise also.

Fortunately I brought my camera and took a few shots of the dog. Let's take a look.

Prank calls

I have got four emergency cases last week but three was prank cases and the fourth one was dog died on the way to the clinic.All happened in different nights.

First case was the owner couldn't wait for the vet(that's me) to turn up in 20 minutes time. Luckily I was still at home but right after the first case I received another call saying that the owner would turn up in a few minutes time. Without much delay I drove to clinic and arrived in about 15 minutes(speeding actually). I love to drive in the night where the highway is clear. Anyway, after I reached clinic the owner was not there yet. Then,the boy called the owner and told him that she couldn't make it to come. I was like "what the f**k!"

I was late for the third case . 10 minutes late. I was caught in the jam. I did inform the owner about the delay. Owner left the clinic silently without informing the boy. Another prank case. It was so surprised that the owner sent an apology letter and paid for the emergency charges the next day.

In the end of the day, I realised that I don't have any emergency case last week.

Christmas Day

As usual, we went to church for Christmas Eve Mass on saturday night. The church was filled with people and all the seats were mostly taken up. Christmas songs were awesome.

Nothing really special that I did on Christmas Day. KL, PJ and Sunway were all so jammed up with cars. We ended up window shopping in Alarmanda Putrajaya. Happened to see Dina(2nd Runner up for Malaysian Idol 2004) was singing on the stage. She has got really cool and sweet vocal.

Anyway, I had christmas dinner with a bunch of cool ppl(my sister, my housemates and Audrey Bong). We cooked pasta and shepherd pie and made salad as well as some desserts. It was great and we had ice wine after that.

It's 12:15 in the morning. I was woken up by the assistant boy at about 1140pm telling me that there's emergency case waiting for me in the clinic. It's a dog that hit by car according to the assistant boy. Quickily changed my sleeping clothes and rushed to the clinic.About 10 minutes drive, the phone rang again thought that the assistant boy hastened me to speed up as the owner probably asking the boy why the vet hasn't turn up yet. When I answered the phone, guess what the boy told me,
" Doctor, sorry ah, itu owner tak mahu tengok doctor lagi sebab emergency charge terlalu mahal,cakap dia datang besok pagi, sorry ah." hahahah..what a joke man!Anyway, drove and arrived home after that.And again got emergency called half an hour later. And again I rushed back to the clinic. Just got back from the clinic after seeing the emergency case. Dog with left forelimb fracture. I am very sleepy and tired now. Time to go to bed. To pray that no more emergency case.

Today is my dad's birthday. I took a few days off from work not only celebrating my dad's birthday but to spend some quality time with my family. I flew from KL to Sibu this morning . So did my elder brother and his family. Glad to meet up with my 1 year old plus nephew and 6 months old niece.They are Jayden and Ashley.

We invited quite a few friends and relatives to the birthday dinner tonight in one of the restaurant in Sibu town.I feel excited to be back home after 10 months of not going home. Miss my dad homecook food as well as the famous"kampua mee" and laksa.Anyway, it's just a very short trip back this time. Will have to go back KL on Monday night and start working on Tuesday. FYI, I will be working on emergency/oncall starting 2 weeks from now. Good that I can learn more exciting cases when I am under pressure and panic. Bad is not sure whether my health will allow to keep me going or not.

It was 2 weeks ago, Audrey, Mini, Tai Lou and I went to watch an outdoor live concert held somewhere near Bukit Bintang. It's Z Chen Happiness Tour Concert in Malaysia. He is pretty talented Malaysian young singer and composed/arrange most of the songs in his album. Overall the concert was really good. Beside that watching those of his fans screaming and yelling was actually quite fun and entertaining.

I was really sick on last saturday night after the last consultation. Coughed badly at night and didnt get enough sleep. I was pretty dizzy the next morning and decided to take MC and rested at home for 2 days as Monday is my usual off. I went to Hope's clinic(like what Mini said go to Hope's clinic and ask the doc give you some hopes). As usual the doc gave me cough syrup, flu tablets, vitamin C, antibotic and not to forget medical certificate as well.

I feel better after the medication but still cough badly at night.Anyway, I have to go and work later at 1 pm. Worrying about my patient (cat with pelvic fracture) has got pin instability. Pray that she doesnt need anymore surgery to reestablish the pin.

Cosmetic Surgery, Tortoise and the Penis

Look at this chow chow, it was just after the cosmetic surgery of the eyelid. He hardly can see the world initially due to severe entropion(inverted eyelid). Now, I am sure he can see the world clearly without any difficulty.

This is the first time I met a tortoise with broken shells. I heard that it was ran over by a car or probably soft shell syndrome due to faulty in management. I am really not sure how to fix the shell together.By using superglue?? oh dear, it's gonna be a tough one I suppose.

This is definitely not a porno photo. It's a penis of a dog that has transmissble venereal tumor(TVT). It usually happen in intact male dog and easily transmitted to other female dogs when they have intercourse.

I just got back from work. It's a long day for me as I worked for 12 hours today in the clinic. I had my last case with a cat that hit by car 2 hours ago. The cat was found by a good samaritan. He brought the cat to the clinic right after the accident. The cat is basically in recumbent state, with bleeding from the oral cavity and dehydrated as well. I suggested to the samaritan to put the cat on drip first then only take x-ray tomorrow morning if it is stablized. He doesnt want to hospitalise the cat or do any x-ray but want to treat as outpatient first simply due to financial constraint. Poor cat! Not sure whether the cat will survive or not until tomorrow. I am really concern about the internal bleeding. Anyway, I tried my best to support the cat by giving long acting penicillin, Vit K and terbutaline.
I have met many owners that willing to help their animals(sometimes stray dogs or their own pets) but money always a matter to stop them from treating the animals.

Haze, haze, haze!

Thank God that the hazy days has finally ended today after the heavy pours this evening. The haze was really bad 3 days ago. You can't even breath properly even if you're in the air conditioned room. The respitory rates were definitely increased. Worst was all my clothes has got this smoke smell. Now, the haze is "travelling" up to North of Penisula Malaysia. Penang Island and Langkawi Island are terribly hazy now. Anyway, everything will be back to normal in KL starting from tomorrow. Whatever that happens, life goes on.

My First Surgery Case

A dog was presented to the clinic with a broken tail this morning. According to the owner, the dog bite its own tail until about 3cm of the tail being bite off. It's called self mutilating of tail. Luckily it was not a maggot wound yet and I didnt see any protruded coccygeal bone. However after checking at the wound and condition of the dog, the underlying cause of the self mutilating of the tail is most probably due to the generalised and chronic malassezia(a kind of skin disease).The itchiness cause the dog kept on licking and eventually biting off the tail. Anyway, tail amputation was indicated for this case as the wound would not be able to heal if there's no skin closure at the wound. I have got the chance to do tail amputation on the dog's tail this evening around 4pm. I was pretty nervous initially although it seems easy when I read through the surgical protocol. A bit awkward too when I performed the surgery. My helpful senior vet was there to help me throughout the surgery. I am so fortunate to have her all this while. The tail was amputated about 4cm long and closed up with simple interrupted suture pattern. I am crossing finger now that hopefully the suture wound will heal properly and will not have any post op complication :P The dog is going home tomorrow and to come back for suture removal in 10 days time. That is my first surgery case.

Convocation has just passed. Everything went smoothly. It was reallly tiring although it was just an ordinary cert giving ceremony. Frankly speaking I was not excited about it at all. But I know most of my classmates were really excited about it. hehe..not sure why I am not excited about it. Almost all my coursemates turned up only left few didnt turn up. Audrey, we missed you! Everyone was kinda busy on graduation day. I didnt even have the chance to take photos with some of my close coursemates. Family and friends were all turned up. It's a joyful day indeed. Anyway, we are finally being called as registered veterinarian in Malaysia and of course practising legally now. To all my coursemates, glad to see you all during the convo and all the best in your future undertakings.

Peeky, rest in peace!

Peeky passed away yesterday evening. The owner brought Peeky to the clinic after found out that Peeky was not breathing normally. According to the owner Peeky was not eating for almost 3 days already. Her health condition got worsened. Upon arrival, Peeky was found dead with no heart beat and respiration after I auscultated the heart. It was too late for us to save Peeky. At least Peeky is not in pain or suffering anymore from her sickness. Peeky's owner was really devastated after she found out that Peeky has passed away. I am sure she can take it after all. It's happy when you see your pet is healthy and active but it's not easy when you lost your beloved pets. Anyway, rest in peace Peeky. I will always remember you.

This is Peeky. She was in sternal recumbency most of the time during hospitalization. X-ray was taken on the pelvic region. She was diagnosed to have degenerative joint disease as well as tick fever and early chronic renal failure. She was discharged yesterday.

This is Moon. She was presented with multiple bite wound. According to the owner, she was injured after fighting with bull mastiff(which is Moon's housemate).Poor little creature! She was discharged after 3 weeks of hospitalization.

This is cute pomeranian named Baby. She was very lethargic and pale during presentation. According to the peripheral blood film and complete blood count, she was diagnosed with having tick fever. She was really anaemic initially. After putting her with antibiotic, she had improved tremendously.

Have you ever seen this kind of iguana before? This iguana has got a swollen lower jaw as well as both hind limbs. She was suspected to be having Calcium deficiency. X-ray results shown that the bone density was very low.

My first case

An 11 year old intact female pekingnese named Peeky was presented to the clinic this evening. I took the chance to consult this case. Peeky is pretty dehyrated, dull and depressed during the presentation.She has got really bad ulcer on her tongue as well as halithosis. She is losing weight for the pass 2 weeks. The first thing came into my mind was the dog might be having chronic renal failure. Complete blood test and serum biochemistry were done. However, the biochemistry results are not really supportive with my diagnosis at the point of presentation. BUN was high but creatinine was within the normal range. The blood total protein was high with albumin and globulin both increased. I have to reevaluate this case again tomorrow and ask for second opinion.Peeky is on drip now.
That's my first case after working for 2 weeks in that clinic. I was pretty nervous at first and kinda blur of what I should do and so on. So much more to learn man! confidence, knowledge, clients relationship and so on....

I have been working in Segar Pets Centre and Veterinary Services for almost a week from 9am till 9pm everyday and get a day off on Monday. Though the working hour is pretty long I really enjoy working in that clinic. Heaps of stuffs to learn and practice. I am very fortunate to have so many seniors vets which are very helpful and willing to teach me. The assistant vets are nice as well and have so much fun with them. I have seen quite a few surgeries that I have never seen before such as digits amputation and contructing broken hard palate. That was all very interesting.

I was asked to euthanize a poor stray dog last week. She was being adopted by two kind hearted old couples after they found the dog lying at the road side. She was suspected to be hit by a car few days ago and presented to us with two huge open fracture necrotized wound on right front limb and right hind limb. She was unable to use those both limbs to walk. The two old couples were in dilemma whether want to save the legs or put the dog to sleep. That was a pretty hard decision to make for those who love animals. Finally, they decided to put the dog to sleep after considering the long term management and financial constraint. The wife was pretty upset and and grieved for the lost. Frankly speaking, I was sad also at that time and nearly weep as well. I walked away and tried to control my feelings. Anyway, there are heaps to learn on how to deal with client's grief and their lost.

Gold Coast(Surfer Paradise)

I headed to Surfer Paradise right after Brisbane city tour.
Surfer Paradise is hard to ignore or not to go if you're in Gold Coast. It is an awesome beach with beautiful white and clean sand. There are lots of shops and building along the beach and huge number of cafes along the street. The lifestyle is just so relaxing in Surfer Paradise.
I was questioned by my friends whether I went to the popular theme parks or not in Gold Coast. I didnt go to all the theme parks. Partly because it's pretty boring too me and doesnt attract me at all. So I chose not to go.

Lismore, Ballina and Byron Bay

From Surfer Paradise I took a night bus to Lismore to meet up with my friend. It took me 3 hours to get to Lismore. I havent seen this good friend of mine for 3 years and putting up in his place for a few days. He took a day off and drove me to Ballina and Byron Bay. Ballina is just another resort town for vacation. Byron Bay is the most popular surfing spots on the east coast of Australia. Every traveller claimed that it is a must go beach. Anyway, for me it's just another beach which we can find in Malaysia. I dont find it fascinating.

Sydney

After spending a few days in Lismore, I took a midnight bus leaving Lismore for Sydney. Guess what, I was the only passenger from Lismore in the bus that night. The bus stopped in few towns to pick up other passengers. Basically, there were only total of 5 passengers(including me) in the bus to Sydney. It took 12 hours to reach Sydney from Lismore. hah... that is why not many people want to travel by land.

The first place that I headed to when I reached Sydney was Kingcross. Kingcross is one of the Sydney inner-city suburb. It is known as prostitution area and flooded with criminal cases. Due to my curiosity, I decided to stay in Kingcross. Once I reached Kingcross, there were many complicated and weird people hanging around the street. Anyway, something happened to me that day. After I have checked in into a backpacker, I went to McD to have my lunch. As I started to eat my meal, 2 ladies walked into the restaurant. One of the lady walking towards me then she sat down facing me. Without hesistation and permission from me, she took all my chips and put into her mouth then started to cry. Gosh, I was really scared by her and thought that she might take out a knife and hurt me. Without delay, I quickily took my backpack and walked off from McD as fast as I could. As a result of that, I decided to stay in City Central Backpackers(located in city centre) the next day for 2 nights.

I spend one and the half day to walk around Sydney City Centre. I visited quite a number of places which include St Mary Cathedral, Hyde Park, Sydney Tower, Royal Botanic Garden, Sydney Opera House, Sydney Harbour Brigde, Circular Quay, The Rocks Market, Darling Habour, Queen Victoria Building, Sydney Oplimpic Park and Paddy Market as well as China Town.

On day 3 , I joined a tour to the west of the city - Blue Mountains. It has got the Three Sister. spectacular 300 metre cliffs and the world's steepest railway ride(this was fun and exciting).

On day 4, I spend a night at Bondi Beach by staying in Bondi YHA. Bondi is really really fascinating and fabulous. Heaps of travellers went there just for surfing and sun basking. Tell you what, I didnt do surfing but I kayak in the sea for almost 2 hours. I was extremely exhausted after kayaking. Afterall I enjoyed it so much.

After 5 days in Sydney, I took a night flight off to Melbourne. I stayed at my friend's(Irene) apartment which located at the city(Flinders Street). Melbourne is really a beautiful city and it is the second lasrgest city in Australia. I was fascinated by the arrangement and location of the streets in the city itself. It's so easy and convinient to go around in Melbourne city. The tram services are available in every corner or middle of the streets. Initially, I was quite blur on which tram to take to the street that I wanted to go. I got onto the wrong tram many times and always pretended nothing happen in front of other passengers and then went off from the tram as soon as possible. As if I am familiar with the traim's route. hehehe...I dont want to let people know that I took the wrong tram. That was pretty fun actually to hop in and hop off from the wrong tram. I took 2 days to walk around Melbourne city. Federation square is just opposite to Irene's appartment. Flinders street station is the main station for suburban train. Under the clock of the station is the famous meeting place. Beside these 2 popular places, I went to Melbourne's Parliement house, Queen Victoria Market(which has been running for more than 100 years), Yarra River, Crown Entertainment Complex as well as the awesome Fitzroy and Treasury Gardens during autuum time.
I was fortunate to watch the famous musical sketch Mamma Mia that was showing in Melbourne. I went with Irene. Anyway, I like Melbourne city compare to other cities that I went in Australia.

Great Ocean Road

Great Ocean Road is known to be one of the world's most spectacular coastal drives. The tour guide drove us from Melbourne to Geelong, Torquay, Anglesea, Lorne, Apollo Bay, 12 Apostles, Loch Ard Gorge, Colac, Winchelsea then back to Melbourne. The journey was pretty long. Unfortunately the weather was bad that day. It started to rain around 4'o clock in the evening. Though I was all wet and freezing cold, I didnt miss to see all the beautiful scene along the Great Ocean Road especially the Loch Ard Gorge, London Brigde and the 12 Apostles. The trip was fun and met some new friends from Canada, Singapore and Korea.

Autumn in New Zealand

I was fortunate to spend a few days in NZ during autumn season. No doubt that there are always lots of amazing changes of tree's colour during autumn season. The leaves alter into different colour from green to red, yellow or brown which eventually drop off onto the ground. There will be no leaves on the trees and just branches. Weather getting colder each day and soon marked the coming of winter season.

At Palmerston North's Airport

I arrived Palmerston North on the 6th of May at 250pm. I was asked to fill in the embarkment form at the airport immigration. I didnt complete the form as I dont know my friend's address in Palmy. I just put my friend's name and her NZ contact phone no.For goodness sake, this subsequently caused me trouble at the immigration.
At the immigration counter, I was asked to put my friend's address. I told the officer that I really dont know the address. Thus, this lady officer said she needs to check my bagage thoroughly. All the things in my backpack were being unpack. Darn...It took me like 3 hours to pack my things. Now I have to repack again after the inspection. The lady officer asked me all sorts of questions eg.

What's ur friend's address in Palmy? ( again!!)I really dont know.
Do you bring any animals' medicine? of course no
How many year it takes to study vet? 5 years.(She is sort of like testing me whether I am giving correct info in the embarkment form. )
What are you doing in Palmy? visiting my friends
Is your friend waiting for you outside the departure hall? oh yes!You can ask the address from her.

She went out with my passport and documents to look for my friend in the departure hall. After about 5 minutes, she came back with a box of round papers. She took one piece of the round paper out from the box followed by my wallet and my mobile phone. Then, she wiped the round paper on my wallet and mobile phone and telling me that this paper is to test whether I am having any drugs or not. holy shit, I was kinda annoyed by what she did on me. Simply, they suspected me as a drug trafficker. f**K!! anyway, I know that the result of that round paper would turn out to be negative because I am innocent. She then let me go after the test turned out to be negative.

Frankly speaking, I was kind of scared that they would retain me and sent me back to Malaysia. Fortunately it did not happen on me.

Fluffy

I adopted Fluffy in Jan 2003. Little did I know about how to keep rabbit. It was still vivid in my mind the reason I adopted him as my first pet. I was told that Fluffy is a dwarf rabbit and it will never grow bigger. Dwarf rabbit usually looks cute and adorable. Anyway, after a month of keeping him guess what? Fluffy grew bigger and bigger. He is now not a "dwarf rabbit" anymore. He is a pretty lonely rabbit as I hardly have time accompany him and he doesn’t have any female companion as well. His two balls are still intact. That makes him aggressive and tends to mount whenever there are feet around him. No doubt that he is good in mounting basketball too.

This is the orange cat in my house. He is about 4 months old now. He was just castrated 2 weeks ago. He is a loner. He can spend most of the time outside the house by his own. Sleeps, eats, “wee wee”, “poo poo” and sleeps. He is definitely being bullied by Emma and Sally whenever he goes near to them. Guess what, he loves dog food so much. We always stop him from eating dog food just simply to avoid him from getting taurine deficiency as dog food lack of taurine. He likes people to cuddle and pet him every morning. That makes him a lovely cat.

Emma, got this name from the drama series “Friends”. It is a sweet name for me. Thus, I named my little black colour coat puppy, Emma. She is now about 5 months old spayed female. She was abandoned at the road side with her others siblings near my friend’s house when I first got her. It was very sad to hear that her others siblings were sent to SPCA to be put down. Anyway, Emma is really an energetic night player and therefore most of the time she slacks during day time. She is kinda hard to train because she is impatient most of the time. She loves to eat snacks and only listen to commands when she gets to eat. Fair enough right? Hahaha… It is really a great feeling to have a pet. I feel delighted whenever she wags her tail to greet you every morning. It’s just brightened up your day.

Sally was found at the road side also near my old house in Taman Universiti. I kept her until she weaned. She is the lucky one too. Sophia adopted her. She is 1 year and 4 months old spayed female. Tell you what, she has this very sad looking spectacled eyes. She goes along very well with Emma and always protects Emma whenever I punish Emma. She is an obedient dog and listens to commands most of the time. She loves playing with water and sand. She will try to escape when we open the gate and goes to her favourite “beach” (which I have no idea where it is) to play. She is a loyal companion and never gets angry when she is being punished.

Genting Highland Trip

This is the first posting in my blog. Still a fresh user of blogger though. thought of writing something here just to start off :)

I went up to Genting Highland few days ago with a bunch of coursemates just to attend a seminar regarding a new IBD(Infectious Bursal Disease) vaccines that just recently being marketed. It was a good seminar that presented by two vets from Spain. However, I fall asleep during the Q&A session. That was really terribly long and boring.

Anyway, we spend a night in First World Hotel. I had a great time chit chatting with my coursemates as we really got to know each other better. Guess what, Genting is not as cold as last time. I couldnt really feel the cooling weather there. I guess world's weather is turning upside down as weather getting warmer and warmer. I doubt how long will our earth gonna be last.

All of my coursemates wore formal to the new vaccines launching seminar and dinner accept me, sophia and say chin wore really casual to the seminar and dinner.

I was really amused by this instruction board. hahaha..I couldnt help myself to laugh out loud when I saw this board. It is good though.

Have you ever seen this kind of toilet bowl? There is an iron bar on top of the toilet bowl. It is mainly to not let people standing on the top of the toilet bowl to do their "business" as to prevent the toilet bowl from broken down into pieces!!
